Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring the timeless Serapi design, a beautifully tribal style that adds a touch of cultural elegance to any space. This rug boasts a rich cherry background with a striking navy border, complementing the main color of red which brings warmth and vibrancy.

Crafted by skilled Ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug showcases their expertise and artistry. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep residing in the mountainous terrain of the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan. This natural environment provides the sheep with longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool, perfect for exquisite carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to Herat, on the western side of Afghanistan, where it is carefully hand carted and hand spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving. Using traditional floor looms in their homes, these talented weavers create this masterpiece with an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, ensuring durability and longevity.

Combining centuries-old techniques and all-natural dye stuffs, this rug exemplifies the beauty of traditional dyeing methods. The stunning red hue is derived from natural madder root dyes, obtained from the roots of the Rubia tinctorum plant. Madder root dyes have a long history of use in various cultures, offering a wide range of warm and cool shades, including red, orange, pink, and brown.

Measuring at 7'10" X 9'11" and boasting a knots per square inch of 80, this rug showcases the intricacy and dedication of the weavers. With our calculations, we estimate a total of 884,055 individually hand-tied knots in this remarkable piece.

Immerse your space in the rich cultural heritage of Afghanistan with this Afghani Serapi rug. Its combination of unique design, meticulous craftsmanship, and all-natural materials make it a true treasure.
