Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, specifically designed in the Sultanabad style. This transitional rug boasts a seafoam background, accented with a dusty rose border and a striking teal main color. Crafted with the utmost care and attention, this rug is made with wool on cotton, ensuring both quality and comfort.

Measuring at 5'7" x 8'0", this rug exemplifies the craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that produces longer staple, oily, and high-quality wool that is ideal for carpet weaving.

To create this magnificent piece, the raw Ghazni wool is transported to the western side of Afghanistan near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and hand spinning into carpet yarn. The weaving takes place on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes, contributing to a cottage industry type production.

Featuring an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, this rug combines a cotton warp and weft with an all-wool pile. Its double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving ensures exceptional durability, making it one of the most resilient handwoven carpets of today.

In keeping with historical traditions, this rug is dyed using centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs. Its intricate design and expert craftsmanship are a testament to the skill and artistry of Afghan rug makers.

Furthermore, this rug showcases a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, resulting in a remarkable total of 508,333 individually hand-tied knots. Each knot represents the dedication and precision of the weaver, making this rug a truly exceptional piece.

Bring a touch of Afghan beauty and craftsmanship into your home with this stunning Sultanabad-style rug. Its timeless design, luxurious materials, and impeccable construction are sure to enhance any space.
