Introducing the "Soft Melody" Indian Rug - a contemporary masterpiece showcasing the Takuya design. This rug, with its charcoal background and silver border, exudes elegance and modernity. Crafted with meticulous precision, it features a grey main color that adds a touch of serenity to any space.

Originating in the vicinity of Agra, India, the Soft Melody collection exemplifies the rich tradition and craftsmanship of the region. Skilled artisans handweave these rugs in their homes, utilizing techniques passed down through generations.

The key to the Soft Melody rug's exceptional quality lies in its composition. It is made from a luxurious blend of imported, long-staple New Zealand wool (comprising 50-75% of the blend) and either superior local wool or South African wool. This unique combination results in a lustrous finish not commonly seen in rugs made solely from local wools. The imported New Zealand wool is carefully hand-carded and hand-spun in the surrounding areas of Agra, contributing to the sustainability of the local craft.

What sets these rugs apart is the single-ply characteristic of the yarn. Unlike the more common two-ply yarns, each knot of a Soft Melody rug incorporates a single thread. This results in a thicker, denser, and weightier yarn, with knots that are visibly pronounced. The use of an asymmetrical Persian-type knot further enhances the rug's texture, giving it a nubbier feel that is aesthetically appealing.

The Soft Melody rugs are renowned for their 6x6 quality, which demonstrates the intricate craftsmanship involved. This density contributes to the robustness of the rug and ensures clarity in the design.

Made with a 100% wool pile, these rugs have cotton foundations, tightly spun cotton warps, and are mostly double-wefted. With a pile height of approximately 3/8 inch, they offer a luxuriously soft and comfortable feel underfoot. Each rug showcases subtle color variations due to the artisanal dyeing techniques and the handspun nature of the yarn, making each piece unique.

An important aspect of the Soft Melody rugs is their exceptional coloration. Chromium (or chrome) dyes are used, offering resistance to fading and ensuring the rugs maintain their vibrant hues over time. These high-quality chromium dyes, predominantly imported from Switzerland, are applied in India, combining the best of international and local resources.

The Soft Melody "Takuya" Indian Rug measures 7'9" X 10'1" and is the perfect addition to elevate any contemporary space with its exceptional quality and timeless design.
