Introducing our exquisite Afghan rug, showcasing the captivating Timani design, which emanates a tribal charm. This rug hails from Afghanistan, specifically from the Esari Subtribe known for their exceptional craftsmanship.
The rug is skillfully handwoven by ethnic Turkmen weavers, using all-natural, high-quality wool sourced from the Ghazni Province. The mountainous terrain of this region provides the sheep with longer staple, oily wool, perfect for carpet weaving. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is meticulously hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn.
Crafted on traditional floor looms in the weavers' homes, this rug boasts an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, ensuring its longevity. The foundation of the rug is made with cotton warp and weft, while the pile is composed of soft wool. The double-wefted, heavily-packed depressed warp weaving technique further enhances the durability of this piece.
The enchanting rust-colored background harmonizes beautifully with the light blue border and the vibrant red main color, creating a visually captivating composition. The natural indigo dye used for the blue hues and the natural madder root dye for the red tones add a touch of authenticity and highlight the rug's traditional craftsmanship.
Measuring at 5'10" x 9'1", this rug encompasses an impressive knots per square inch of 80. Based on our calculations, it contains a staggering 603,011 individually hand-tied knots, a testament to the meticulous workmanship and dedication that has gone into creating this masterpiece.
With its rich cultural heritage and vibrant design, this Afghan Timani rug is a true work of art that will enhance any space with its beauty and timeless allure.
