Introducing our exquisite Afghan Timani rug, proudly crafted by ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. This rug showcases the timeless beauty of tribal design, with a tobacco background and a captivating teal border that perfectly complements the overall aesthetic.

Originating from Afghanistan, renowned for its rich tradition of rug weaving, this Timani rug is a true testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of the local weavers. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province, located in the southeast of Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain provides the ideal conditions for the sheep to produce longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool, perfect for carpet weaving.

After the raw Ghazni wool is gathered, it is transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes a meticulous process. Here, the wool is hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn, preparing it for the weaving process. The weaving takes place on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes or as part of cottage industry production.

The Afghan Timani rug features the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, adding to its authenticity and character. The foundation of this rug is made of cotton warp and weft, while the pile is crafted from luxurious wool. The double wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures exceptional durability, making this rug ideal for high-traffic areas.

One of the most captivating aspects of this Timani rug is its use of centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs. Each vibrant hue is derived from traditional dyeing methods, ensuring a truly authentic and organic color palette that will stand the test of time.

In terms of production, most of these rugs are woven in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, areas known for their skilled artisans and dedication to preserving the art of rug weaving. The use of two-ply yarn per knot further enhances the rug's durability and longevity.

Our meticulous calculation based on the knots per square inch (KPSI) determines that this Afghan Timani rug boasts an impressive 80 knots per square inch, totaling 181,854 individually hand-tied knots. This attention to detail and intricate craftsmanship guarantee that this rug will be cherished for generations to come.

Enhance your space with the undeniable allure of this Afghan Timani rug, a masterpiece that captures the essence of Afghan craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
