Introducing the Afghani Ziegler Tribal Rug, a stunning masterpiece that exudes cultural beauty. This rug originates from Afghanistan and showcases the intricate craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, particularly those from the Esari Subtribe.

The design of this rug follows the Ziegler style, featuring a captivating tribal pattern. Against a backdrop of medium blue, the rug boasts a rust-colored border that adds an enchanting contrast. The main color scheme revolves around various shades of blue, creating an atmosphere of elegance and tranquility.

Crafted using traditional techniques, this rug is made from high-quality materials. The pile consists of 100% wool, sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. These sheep roam the mountainous terrain, producing longer staple, oily wool that is ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn.

Woven on floor looms within the weavers' own homes, this rug exemplifies cottage industry production. The weaving technique employs an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, resulting in a durable and long-lasting piece. The warp and weft are made of cotton, providing a stable foundation for the intricate pile.

An important aspect of this rug is its all-natural dyeing process. The captivating blue color is derived from natural indigo dye stuffs, specifically from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria). This ancient dye has been used for thousands of years, allowing different cultures to achieve vibrant blue hues in their textile creations.

With a knot count of 80 knots per square inch, this rug showcases the meticulous attention to detail of the weavers. Through our calculations, we determined that this item boasts an impressive total of 269,343 individually hand-tied knots, highlighting the immense craftsmanship and dedication behind its creation.

Experience the cultural richness and exceptional artistry of the Afghani Ziegler Tribal Rug. Its timeless design and superior craftsmanship make it a remarkable addition to any discerning collector's ensemble.
