Introducing our exceptional Afghani rug, featuring a distinctive Bakshaish design. This tribal-style rug showcases a stunning combination of colors, with a rust background and a beautiful blue border. The main color of this rug is a vibrant red, creating a captivating visual impact. Crafted using traditional techniques, this rug is a true work of art.

Originating from Afghanistan, specifically the Ghazni Province in the southeastern region, this rug is woven by talented Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province, where the mountainous terrain naturally provides longer staple, oily wool of higher quality for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of being hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn. Using traditional floor looms in their homes, this rug is carefully handwoven by skilled artisans, resulting in a durable and long-lasting piece.

Featuring an asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique, this rug is woven with a cotton warp and weft, while the pile consists of wool. The double-wefted construction, along with the heavily packed depressed warp weaving, ensures the utmost durability, making this rug a timeless investment.

What sets this rug apart is its use of all-natural dye stuffs. The captivating blue hues are achieved through the use of natural indigo dyes, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria). With a history dating back thousands of years, indigo dye has been widely recognized and utilized around the world to produce vibrant blue shades.

Additionally, the color red in this rug is obtained from natural madder root dyes, derived from the roots of the madder plant (Rubia tinctorum). Madder root dyes have a long history of use as a dyeing agent and have been cultivated for centuries, resulting in warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades.

With a remarkable knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug exhibits the skillful craftsmanship of its weavers. Based on its KPSI, we have estimated that this rug features an impressive total of 588,472 individually hand-tied knots.

In summary, this Afghani rug with a Bakshaish design captures the essence of tribal artistry. Its rich colors, meticulous craftsmanship, and use of all-natural dye stuffs make it a prized addition to any collection.
