Introducing a stunning Afghan Village rug from Afghanistan, featuring a tribal design. The background of this rug is a warm cinnamon color, beautifully complemented by a border in a captivating shade of blue.

Crafted entirely from wool, sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain conducive to producing longer-staple, higher-quality wool. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to Herat, located on the western side of Afghanistan, where it is carefully hand carted and spun into carpet yarn.

This rug is woven on traditional floor looms, utilizing an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. The weave combines a cotton warp and weft with an all-wool pile, resulting in a double-wefted, heavily packed structure that ensures exceptional durability.

All-natural dyes, made from centuries-old dye stuffs, are used to achieve the rich colors found in this rug. Notably, the blue hues are derived from natural indigo dye, sourced from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo has a fascinating history dating back thousands of years and is renowned for its ability to produce vibrant blue tones.

Measuring 1'4" x 2'0", this rug boasts a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, with a total of 30,347 individually hand-tied knots. Its exquisite craftsmanship and authentic design make it a remarkable addition to any space.

Please remember that this rug is new in condition and is made of wool on a cotton foundation.
