Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring a contemporary design known as "Big Fish." This stunning piece perfectly blends traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, making it a true masterpiece.

Originating from the skilled hands of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe in Afghanistan, this rug showcases their exceptional talent. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, benefiting from the region's mountainous terrain and producing longer staple, high-quality wool ideal for carpet weaving.

The Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically around Herat, where it is painstakingly hand-carried and spun into carpet yarn. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms within the weavers' homes, embodying a cottage industry approach. The technique employed is an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, ensuring durability and longevity.

Crafted with the utmost care, this rug features a cotton warp and weft, complemented by a wool pile. The double-wefted construction and heavily packed, depressed warp weaving contribute to its remarkable durability, making it one of the most resilient handwoven carpets available today.

Adding to its allure, this Afghani rug boasts centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs, ensuring vibrant and enduring colors that will beautifully enhance any space. The design of the rug showcases a captivating contemporary pattern, with a silver background elegantly contrasting with the grape border, creating a harmonious aesthetic.

Measuring 2'9" x 9'10" in size, this rug consists of a remarkable 80 knots per square inch, resulting in a total of 307,751 individually hand-tied knots. Each knot represents the skill and artistry of the weaver, making this rug a testament to their talent and dedication.

This Afghani rug not only serves as a functional and beautiful floor covering but also represents a rich cultural heritage and a testament to the weavers' craftsmanship. It is sure to be cherished for generations to come.
