Introducing this exquisite rug from Afghanistan, this stunning piece features the classic Mamluk design combined with a tribal style. The background color of this rug is a beautiful celadon shade, complemented by a border in a vibrant blue hue. The main color scheme of this rug is a captivating green, adding a touch of nature to any space.

Crafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is made from high-quality wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand-carded and spun into carpet yarn, ready for the weaving process.

Using traditional floor looms in their own homes, the weavers create each knot with meticulous attention to detail. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type is employed, resulting in a durable and long-lasting rug. The warp and weft of this rug are made from cotton, while the pile is crafted from fine wool.

With centuries-old dyeing techniques, this rug exhibits all-natural dye stuffs, lending it authenticity and a sense of history. The color blue in this rug comes from natural indigo dye, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo dye has been used by humans for thousands of years, producing vibrant blue hues that are celebrated across cultures.

Measuring 5'10" x 8'2", this rug is perfect for both traditional and contemporary spaces. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, we estimate that there are an impressive 1,106,452 individually hand-tied knots in total.

Add a touch of Afghan authenticity and timeless beauty to your space with this remarkable Afghani Mamluk tribal rug.
