Introducing our exquisite Afghan rug, featuring a stunning sickle leaf design. This rug originates from Afghanistan, specifically from the Esari Subtribe, where skilled Turkmen weavers handcrafted it with utmost precision and care. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province, known for its mountainous terrain, which naturally produces longer staple, oily, and high-quality wool, ideal for carpet weaving.
To create this masterpiece, the raw Ghazni wool is transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and hand spinning to transform it into luxurious carpet yarn. The weaving takes place on traditional floor looms in the weaver's own homes, reflecting the cottage industry nature of production.
With an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a blend of wool on cotton, this rug boasts double wefted, heavily packed, and depressed warp weaving, resulting in exceptional durability. Its centuries-old dyeing techniques utilize only all-natural dye stuffs, adding to its authenticity and charm.
The gray background and fuchsia border of this rug beautifully enhance its transitional style, making it a versatile piece that can seamlessly blend into various interior design settings. Measuring 8 '1 " X 9 '8 ", this rug with its impressive knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162 showcases the exceptional skill and artistry of the weavers. In fact, we estimated that there are a remarkable 1,814,841 individually hand-tied knots in this rug.
This Afghan rug is an absolute treasure, capturing the rich traditions and craftsmanship unique to its origin. Add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your space with this remarkable piece.
