Introducing our exquisite Afghani Harshang tribal rug, featuring a captivating design that originates from the rich heritage of Afghanistan. This rug showcases a striking combination of a navy background and a vibrant red border, creating a visually stunning piece that is sure to enhance any space.

Crafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is made with the utmost craftsmanship and attention to detail. The wool used to create this masterpiece is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for producing high-quality wool due to its mountainous terrain. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to Herat, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn, ensuring the finest quality.

Handwoven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug showcases the beauty of cottage industry production. The use of the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, along with a cotton warp and weft and a wool pile, adds to the durability and longevity of this exquisite piece.

This rug is a testament to centuries-old craftsmanship, featuring all-natural dye stuffs that create its captivating colors. The blue hues are derived from natural indigo dye stuffs, sourced from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo has been utilized for thousands of years across different cultures to produce vibrant shades of blue.

The beautiful red color in this rug is derived from natural madder root dyes. Madder root, scientifically known as Rubia tinctorum, has a long history of use as a dyeing agent and has been cultivated for centuries in various parts of the world. This natural dye can produce a range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades, adding depth and richness to the overall design.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, our rug showcases the intricacy and precision of its craftsmanship. We have calculated that this rug has an impressive 1,192,366 individually hand-tied knots in total.

Embrace the heritage and artistry of Afghanistan with this exceptional Afghani Harshang tribal rug. Its timeless beauty and impeccable craftsmanship make it a true collector's piece, perfect for adding a touch of elegance and culture to your space.
