Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, showcasing the intricate design of Heriz Wagerieh. This tribal-style rug features a rich rose background accentuated by a navy border, adding a touch of elegance to any space.

Crafted with the utmost care, this rug is made from 100% wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to Herat, where it is meticulously hand-carted and hand-spun into carpet yarn.

The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, within the weavers' own homes, reflecting a cottage industry type production. Using the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft, this rug is double wefted and heavily packed, resulting in exceptional durability.

To preserve its authenticity, this rug is dyed using all-natural dye stuffs, following centuries-old techniques. The captivating red color is derived from madder root dyes, obtained from the roots of the Rubia tinctorum plant. This natural dye has been cultivated and used for centuries in various parts of the world, offering a range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades.

Measuring 8'1" x 9'8", this Afghani rug boasts a knot count of 80 knots per square inch. Through our calculations, we estimate that a staggering 889,272 individually hand-tied knots were intricately woven into this masterpiece.

Immerse yourself in the allure of this Afghani rug, uniting traditional craftsmanship with timeless design. Experience the elegance and durability that only a meticulously handwoven rug can provide.
