Introducing a stunning new rug from Afghanistan, featuring a traditional Kurdish design in a tribal-style. The background of this rug is a rich navy color, beautifully complemented by a coral border. Crafted with care, the main material used is wool, which is woven onto a cotton base for added durability.

This rug measures 5'10" x 8'8", making it a perfect size for various living spaces. Its origin lies in Afghanistan, specifically from the Esari subtribe of ethnic Turkmen weavers. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province, characterized by its longer staple length and higher quality. After the wool is obtained, it is brought to the western part of Afghanistan in Herat, where it is carted and hand-spun into carpet yarn.

The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes or as part of a cottage industry. The technique used for the knots is an asymmetrical "Persian" knot style. The warp and weft are made of cotton, while the wool creates a luxurious and soft pile.

This rug stands out not only for its design and craftsmanship but also for its use of centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs. The beautiful blue color is derived from natural indigo dye, which has been used by various cultures around the world for thousands of years to produce vibrant blue hues. As a result, this rug carries a sense of history and tradition.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 104, this rug demonstrates the meticulous attention to detail put into its creation. Through careful calculation, we determined that there are a remarkable 751,483 individually hand-tied knots in total.

Embrace the beauty and authenticity of this Afghan rug, and let it bring warmth and character to your home.
