Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, adorned with a captivating Tabriz design. This traditional masterpiece is truly a sight to behold. Its background showcases a serene sky hue, harmonizing perfectly with a cranberry border. Crafted with utmost precision, this rug is a testament to the skill and artistry of the ethnic Turkmen weavers, most notably from the Esari Subtribe.

The wool used in this rug is sourced from the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that produces wool of exceptional quality. Meticulously hand-carried to the western side of Afghanistan, the wool is then transformed into carpet yarn through the painstaking process of hand-carding and hand-spinning in Herat. Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug is a remarkable example of the cottage industry type production.

Using an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft, this rug combines durability and elegance. The warp weaving, with its double-wefted and heavily packed depressed structure, ensures its longevity, making it one of the most durable handwoven carpets of today. To achieve its captivating color palette, centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs are employed, infusing the fibers with the rich hues that never fail to mesmerize.

The Karam Kul district of Andkhoi boasts skilled weavers known for their expertise in achieving higher knot counts. Using hand-spun single-ply pern knot yarn, they have skilfully crafted this rug, attaining a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162. By our calculations, this results in a grand total of 909,675 individually hand-tied knots, each contributing to the intricate beauty that defines this piece.

Adding to its allure, the vibrant blue color in this rug is derived from natural indigo dye stuffs. The indigo plant, scientifically known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, has been used for thousands of years to produce striking blue hues. Embracing this ancient tradition, this rug radiates an enchanting blue tone, a testament to the timeless appeal of natural dyes.

Measuring 5'0" x 7'10", this Afghani rug is a testament to the impeccable craftsmanship and artistry of its creators. With its captivating design, traditional weaving techniques, and the use of natural materials, this rug showcases the rich cultural heritage of Afghanistan. Transform your space into a sanctuary of elegance and style with this magnificent rug.
