Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, specifically from the Tabriz design and made by skilled weavers of the Turkmen Esari subtribe. This rug is a true representation of transitional style, blending traditional elements with contemporary aesthetics. The background color is celadon, which creates a soothing and elegant ambiance. The border, on the other hand, is a deep blue that adds a striking contrast to the overall design.

Crafted using high-quality materials, this rug is made of wool on a cotton foundation. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. This region's mountainous terrain provides the ideal conditions for producing longer staple, oily wool, which is highly desired for carpet weaving. The Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn, ensuring the utmost authenticity and quality.

The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, typically in the weavers' homes as part of the cottage industry. Utilizing the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, each knot is carefully hand-tied to create a durable and long-lasting rug. The cotton warp and weft, along with a wool pile, contribute to its exceptional quality. In fact, the double wefting and heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique employed in its construction make this rug one of the most durable handwoven carpets available.

With a size of 5'0" x 6'11", this rug effortlessly fits into various living spaces, bringing its unique charm to any room. The color palette predominantly features shades of green, combining the refreshing celadon background with subtle accents throughout the design.

The exquisite blue hues in this rug are achieved using natural indigo dye. Known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, this dye has been used for thousands of years and is derived from the leaves of the indigo plant. Its history and the vibrant blue shades it produces make it a sought-after choice among artisans.

When considering the craftsmanship of this rug, the impressive knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162 showcase the skill and dedication put into its creation. Through careful calculation, it has been determined that this rug has approximately 803,231 individually hand-tied knots.

Immerse yourself in the rich heritage and impeccable artistry of this Afghan rug, where traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design intertwine, creating a truly remarkable piece for your home.
