This rug hails from India and is crafted in the contemporary style. The primary color palette presents a rust background with distinct shades of red. Being relatively new, it is composed of wool on cotton, providing durability and comfort underfoot.

The rug measures 2'6" X 10', which indicates its suitability for elongated spaces such as hallways or corridors. The design of the rug is dubbed as 'Illusion', inspired by fields of long, waving grass. This design imparts an interesting visual texture and depth to the rug, with a subtle mix of colors creating an intricate woven pattern.

This particular series was initiated by Teddy Sumner of Michaelian & Kohlberg, and major production was undertaken in Agra, India. The entire process involved meticulous production techniques including the use of single and two-ply yarns, specific dyeing processes using natural dyes which allows for multiple shadings in the same color, also referred to as abrash, and detailed weaving techniques.

The creation of the rug involved an asymmetrical Persian knot, a technique that adds to the overall texture and pattern of the rug. Originally inspired by swathes of grass, this rug captures the essence of nature, presented through a soothing blend of colors. The rug's handcrafted quality compliments a diverse array of interiors, from traditionally-inspired decor to modern settings.

The Illusion rug transitioned from a revolutionary concept into a coveted decor item cherished in many households. Being classified as an Agra rug further signifies its rich heritage rooted in the noteworthy tradition of Indian carpet weaving.
