Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring the timeless design of Bakshaish Willow. With a tribal style, this rug emanates a sense of traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage. The rich rust background beautifully complements the striking blue border, creating a captivating color contrast. The main color of this rug is a deep and vibrant red, adding warmth and depth to any space.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this rug is made of wool on cotton, ensuring a comfortable and durable foundation. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, renowned for its mountainous terrain that yields high-quality wool. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand-crafted and spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving.

Woven by talented weavers, predominantly from the Esari subtribe, this rug is meticulously created on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, representing the beauty of cottage industry production. The weaving technique used is an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, contributing to the rug's unique charm. The warp and weft are made of cotton, supporting the wool pile and enhancing its durability.

Carpet enthusiasts will appreciate the double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving, which ensures the longevity of this handwoven masterpiece. Centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs are used, resulting in the distinctive and authentic colors that make this rug truly remarkable.

Furthermore, this rug measures 2'9" x 17'9", offering a generous size to adorn a variety of spaces. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, the craftsmanship of this rug is evident in every hand-tied knot. In fact, we've calculated that there are 555,518 individually hand-tied knots in this rug, showcasing the dedication and skill of the weavers.

Both the blue color, derived from natural indigo dye stuffs, and the red color, created with natural madder root dyes, add to the rug's allure. Natural indigo dyes, sourced from the leaves of the indigo plant, have been used by humans for thousands of years to produce vibrant blue hues. On the other hand, madder root dyes, derived from the roots of the madder plant, offer warm and cool shades of red, orange, pink, and brown. Both of these natural dye sources have been widely used in various cultures around the world, further enhancing the historical significance of this rug.

This Afghani rug boasting the eminent Bakshaish Willow design is a testament to the expert craftsmanship and artistic traditions of Afghan weavers. Its tribal style, stunning color palette, and durable construction make it an exceptional addition to any collection or space.
