Introducing the magnificent Afghani rug with a traditional vase design, we are proud to present a stunning piece of craftsmanship. Hailing from the Esari Subtribe of ethnic Turkmen weavers, this rug showcases the exceptional skill and heritage of the region.

The rich rust background and navy border of this rug create a captivating visual contrast, drawing the eye to its intricate detailing. Made with all-natural wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, this rug boasts longer staple oily higher-quality wool, owing to the mountainous terrain in which these sheep graze.

The raw Ghazni wool is carefully carried to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is meticulously hand-spun into carpet yarn. Traditional floor looms are then employed in the homes of weavers, embracing the cottage industry production style. Using the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, this rug exemplifies the traditional weaving techniques passed down through generations.

Featuring a cotton warp and weft, and an all-wool pile, this rug possesses exceptional durability. The double-wefted, heavily-packed depressed warp weaving method ensures its longevity, making it a truly heirloom-worthy piece.

A testament to the rich history of natural dyeing, the captivating red color of this rug is derived from the madder root dyes. These natural dyes have been cultivated and used for centuries around the world, offering a range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades. The madder root dyes used in this rug have been sourced from various parts of the world, creating a truly unique and authentic hue.

With a knots-per-square-inch (KPSI) count of 80, this rug boasts a remarkable level of detail, resulting in a breathtaking tapestry of design. Based on the KPSI, we have calculated that this rug features an awe-inspiring total of 490,791 individually hand-tied knots.

Measuring at 2'6" x 17'3", this rug is a statement piece that will elevate any space with its beauty and history.
