Introducing our exquisite Afghan rug featuring a captivating arabesque design. Crafted by ethnic Turkmen weavers, mostly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is a true testament to their exceptional craftsmanship.

Originating from Afghanistan, specifically the Ghazni Province in the southeast, this rug is made from wool sourced from sheep in the region. Thanks to the mountainous terrain of Ghazni, the wool obtained is of exceptional quality, boasting a long staple and a natural oiliness that is ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is meticulously hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn.

These magnificent rugs are woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, reflecting the cottage industry approach to production. Using the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, skilled weavers create a durable masterpiece that will stand the test of time. The cotton warp and weft serve as a sturdy foundation, while the luscious wool pile adds depth and texture.

The navy background and rust border of this rug create a striking contrast, enhancing the intricate arabesque design. Traditional in style, this rug exudes elegance and adds a touch of sophistication to any space. Its classic appeal makes it an enduring choice for those who appreciate the timeless beauty of traditional rugs.

The magic of this rug is not just in its design and origin, but also in the centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs used. Indigo, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant, is responsible for the mesmerizing blue hues found in this rug. Known as one of the oldest dyes used by humans, indigo has a rich history that spans thousands of years and has been cherished by various cultures around the world.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, this rug demonstrates the meticulous attention to detail put forth by its skilled weavers. By calculating the KPSI, we estimate that this rug has a total of 699994 individually hand-tied knots, showcasing the immense dedication and craftsmanship involved in its creation.

Measuring 2'7" x 11'8", this Afghan rug is brand new, ensuring its pristine condition for years to come. Crafted with a wool pile on a cotton foundation, it not only exudes luxury but also promises durability and longevity.

Indulge in the undeniable allure of this Afghan rug, where culture, craftsmanship, and design converge to create a truly remarkable piece for your home.
