Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring a captivating design inspired by the tribal aesthetics of the Bakshaish style. This rug proudly originates from Afghanistan, specifically handwoven by skilled Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. They meticulously utilize high-quality wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province, known for its mountainous terrain that produces long-staple, oily wool ideal for carpet weaving.

The wool undergoes an artisanal process: first, it is transported to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it is patiently hand carted and spun into carpet yarn. The weaving itself takes place on traditional floor looms in the weaver's homes, reflecting a cottage industry approach. The Turkmen weavers employ an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type in their meticulous craftsmanship, resulting in a rug of heirloom quality.

This rug boasts a navy background that beautifully contrasts with a rust border, creating a visually striking piece that adds depth and character to any space. The main color of this rug is a splendid blue, achieved through the use of natural indigo dye, an ancient dyeing method traced back thousands of years. The utilization of natural indigo dye stuffs, specifically derived from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria), produces vibrant and timeless blue hues.

Crafted with the utmost attention to detail, this rug features a knot count of 104 knots per square inch, a testament to the weaver's expertise and dedication. Through meticulous calculations, we have determined that this rug possesses a grand total of 1,341,730 individually hand-tied knots.

Measuring at 8'1" x 11'2", this new rug exemplifies durability thanks to its double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving, ensuring longevity and resilience. Its content consists of wool on cotton, providing a comfortable and inviting texture underfoot.

Indulge in the beauty and heritage of this Afghani Bakshaish tribal rug, an exceptional piece that combines traditional craftsmanship, natural materials, and timeless design. Immerse yourself in a world of rich history and cultural significance with this remarkable addition to your home or collection.
