Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, featuring the traditional design known as Mina Khani. This tribal-style rug boasts a vibrant blue background and a rust-colored border, creating a striking contrast. Crafted with care and precision, this rug is made using high-quality materials.

The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that produces long-staple, oily, and superior quality wool for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then taken to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand carted and hand spun into carpet yarn. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms in the weavers' homes, contributing to the cottage industry type of production.

Featuring an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, this rug has a cotton warp and weft, while the pile is made entirely of wool. The double wefted technique, along with the heavily packed and depressed warp weaving, ensures the utmost durability of this handwoven masterpiece.

The vibrant blue color of this rug is achieved through natural indigo dye. Derived from the leaves of the indigo plant, natural indigo dyes have been utilized by various cultures for thousands of years. They create captivating blue hues that stand the test of time.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug exhibits exceptional craftsmanship. In fact, our calculations based on the KPSI reveal that this rug has a staggering 918,037 individually hand-tied knots in total. Each knot attests to the meticulous attention and dedication put into crafting this rug.

With its Afghani origin, stunning design, and traditional weaving techniques, this rug is a testament to the rich cultural heritage and artistic craftsmanship of the region. Enhance your space with this extraordinary piece that combines history, beauty, and durability.
