Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring a captivating arabesque design. Crafted by talented ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is a true testament to their skill and expertise.

The wool used in this rug is sourced exclusively from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that naturally yields longer staple oily, high-quality wool. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carting and hand spinning, transforming it into carpet yarn ready for weaving.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug is a product of the cottage industry, imbuing it with a sense of authenticity and artisanal charm. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and the combination of cotton warp and weft with an all-wool pile ensure its durability and longevity.

Featuring a tan background and a striking blue border, this rug embodies the essence of traditional design. The blue color derives from natural indigo dye stuffs, sourced from the leaves of the indigo plant, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo. Renowned for its vibrant blue hues, indigo has a rich history dating back thousands of years and has been utilized by numerous cultures around the world.

Measuring 8'9" x 11'11", this new rug is meticulously handcrafted with 80 knots per square inch. In total, it boasts an impressive 1,186,675 individually hand-tied knots, a testament to the time and dedication invested in its creation.

Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Afghani craftsmanship with this remarkable rug.
