Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, showcasing the elegant Bakshaish Willow design and embodying a tribal style. The background of this rug is a captivating shade of blue, complemented by a sage-colored border. Crafted with meticulous care, this rug is made from wool on cotton, giving it a luxurious and durable texture.

Originating from Afghanistan, this rug boasts a rich heritage. The wool used in its creation comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain produces longer staple, high-quality wool. Raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand-carded and spun into carpet yarn.

The talented ethnic Turkmen weavers, most of whom belong to the Esari Subtribe, weave this rug on traditional floor looms in their own homes. Employing the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, they use a cotton warp and weft, with an all-wool pile. The double-wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures exceptional durability, resulting in an exquisite and long-lasting handwoven carpet.

This magnificent rug is brought to life using centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs. In the case of the blue hues, the color derives from natural indigo dye. Natural indigo dyes, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, have been used for thousands of years in various cultures worldwide to create vibrant blue shades. The use of these natural dyes adds depth and character to the rug.

With a size of 5 '0 " X 6 '5 " and an impressive knot count of 80 per square inch, this rug is a true work of art. Based on our calculations, this item boasts a remarkable 365,131 individually hand-tied knots, emphasizing the level of detail and craftsmanship involved.

Embrace the beauty and artistry of this Afghani rug, perfect for adding elegance and a touch of tribal charm to any space.
