This Afghan Bakshaish Willow tribal rug features a stunning design with a medium blue background and a teal border. The rug measures 6 x 9 feet, making it the perfect size to enhance any living space. Crafted from wool on cotton, this new rug offers both quality and durability.

Originating from Bakhshaish, a small village in the Province of Azerbaijan, this rug has a rich history of traditional rug weaving. Bakhshaish rugs are influenced by their neighbors in Heriz, with patterns and styles similar to Heriz rugs. However, the color scheme of Bakhshaish rugs sets them apart, featuring rich colors such as navy blue and red. The weavers of Bakhshaish use coarse Turkish knots, resulting in an exceptionally durable rug.

The Bakshaish Willow design is known for its diverse range of colors and patterns. Traditional floral designs are adapted into geometric and tribal patterns by Bakhshaish weavers. Popular designs include the Herati (fish), Lattice, Minakhani (rosette-linked trellis), and Open Field with medallion. Bakshaish rugs also feature nomadic motifs like stars, flower heads, animals, and birds.

This rug is handwoven by ethnic Turkmen weavers, mostly from the Esari subtribe, using wool sourced from the Ghazni province of Southeast Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of Ghazni provides high-quality wool, which is then hand carted and spun into carpet yarn. The rug is woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' homes, following the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. With a cotton warp and weft and a wool pile, this double wefted rug is exceptionally durable.

The captivating blue color of this rug comes from natural indigo dye derived from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo is one of the oldest known dyes in human history, with a rich tradition in producing vibrant blue hues.

With a knots per square inch of 104, this rug showcases the skill and craftsmanship of its weavers. Each individually hand-tied knot contributes to the total of 855,124 knots in this exquisite piece.

Transform your living space with this stunning Afghan Bakshaish Willow tribal rug. Its rich history, durable construction, and timeless design make it a valuable addition to any home or collection.
