Introducing our exquisite Afghani Baluch rug, a true masterpiece in both design and craftsmanship. This tribal-style rug hails from Afghanistan, specifically woven by the skilled hands of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe.

The raw material for this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. This region's mountainous terrain naturally produces longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the intricate process of hand carting and hand spinning into carpet yarn.

Using traditional floor looms in their own homes, the weavers create this piece using the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. The cotton warp and weft provide a sturdy foundation, while the all-wool pile adds luxurious softness and texture. The double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures exceptional durability, making this rug a long-lasting investment.

To achieve its captivating aesthetic, this rug employs all-natural dye stuffs, echoing the centuries-old tradition of using organic materials. The striking blue hue is derived from natural indigo dye stuffs, specifically the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria), known for its vibrant blue color. This ancient dye has been cherished by various cultures worldwide for thousands of years.

Measuring at 6'0" x 9'1", this rug boasts a knot per square inch (KPSI) of 80. Through meticulous calculations, we have determined that this remarkable piece contains a staggering 620,244 individually hand-tied knots, a testament to the weavers' exceptional attention to detail.

Our Afghani Baluch rug is a true embodiment of artistry and heritage. Its timeless design, quality craftsmanship, and rich history make it a prized addition to any home or collection. Captivate your guests and elevate your space with this mesmerizing work of art.
