Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, specifically from the Ghazni Province in South East Afghanistan. The design of this rug is the unique and contemporary Collucci style, adding a touch of modernity to its traditional Afghan origins.

The background of this rug is a stunning silver shade, beautifully complemented by a turquoise border. The main color dominating this rug is a sophisticated shade of grey, adding an element of elegance to any space it adorns.

Crafted with utmost care and precision, this rug is made using a blend of wool and silk on a cotton foundation. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province, known for producing high-quality wool due to its mountainous terrain. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is meticulously hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving.

The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes or small cottage industries. The technique used is the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, adding to the authentic craftsmanship of this rug. With a cotton warp and weft, and a pile made entirely of wool, this rug showcases the durability and longevity of handwoven carpets.

Adding to its historical significance, this rug is dyed using centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs. The result is a captivating blend of colors that not only enhances the rug's aesthetic appeal but also reflects its cultural heritage.

This rug is predominantly woven in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, using a 2-ply yarn per knot. With a knot per square inch (KPSI) of 80, we have calculated that this rug boasts a remarkable 869,194 individually hand-tied knots.

Our Afghan rug showcases the finest craftsmanship, combining traditional techniques with a contemporary design. Its origins in the Ghazni Province and unique Collucci style make it a truly remarkable piece. Perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to any space, this rug is a testament to the artistry and mastery of Afghan rug weavers.
