Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, featuring the timeless Ferahan design. This transitional-style rug showcases a stunning sky blue background, accentuated by a copper border. It is crafted using high-quality materials, with a wool pile on a cotton foundation, ensuring both comfort and durability.

Originating from South East Afghanistan, this rug is skillfully handwoven by ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug comes from the Ghazni Province, renowned for its mountainous terrain that yields longer staple, superior quality wool. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to Herat, where it is meticulously hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn.

With its asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and double wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving, this rug exemplifies the craftsmanship and durability of traditional floor loom production. Each knot is painstakingly executed by skilled artisans, resulting in a knot count of 80 knots per square inch. In fact, we have estimated that this rug boasts a remarkable total of 594,799 individually hand-tied knots.

The enticing blue color of this rug is achieved through the use of natural indigo dye stuffs, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo has been utilized for thousands of years across various cultures to produce vibrant blue hues, making this rug a testament to the enduring allure of this age-old dyeing tradition.

Measuring 5'11" x 8'10" in size, this rug is perfect for adding a touch of elegance to any room. Don't miss the opportunity to own a piece of art that seamlessly blends traditional Afghan craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities.
