Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, crafted with the traditional Gabbeh design, characterized by its tribal style. The rug features a striking blue background and a rust-colored border, adding a touch of warmth and dimension to the piece.

Originating from Afghanistan, this rug is handwoven by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in its creation is sourced from the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that naturally produces longer staple, oily, and higher-quality wool. This exceptional material is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it undergoes hand carding and spinning, transforming into carpet yarn ready for weaving.

The rug is meticulously woven on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes, employing asymmetrical "Persian" knot type technique. Its cotton warp and weft provide a sturdy foundation, while the wool pile ensures a soft and comfortable feel. With its double-wefted and heavily packed depressed warp weaving, this rug boasts unparalleled durability, making it a remarkable example of handwoven craftsmanship.

The rug showcases an array of rich, deep blue tones, achieved through the use of natural indigo dye. Derived from the leaves of the indigo plant, this dye has a history dating back thousands of years, and it has been prized for its ability to produce vibrant blue hues in various cultures worldwide.

Measuring 2'6" x 8'4", this rug presents a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 104. Based on this calculation, it is estimated that the rug consists of a total of 309,676 individually hand-tied knots.

Embrace the cultural heritage of Afghanistan and elevate your space with this exceptional Gabbeh rug. Its meticulous craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and timeless design make it a true treasure in any interior setting.
