The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain yields longer staple oily wool of superior quality, perfect for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous hand carding and spinning processes to transform it into carpet yarn. This yarn is then skillfully woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, reflecting the cottage industry nature of production. The weaving technique employed is the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, ensuring a durable and long-lasting rug.
