Introducing the exquisite Harshang tribal rug from Afghanistan. This rug showcases the craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. Made with all-natural wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that produces longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool perfect for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is meticulously hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn.

Woven on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes or cottage industries, this rug features an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft with an all-wool pile. The double-wefted construction, combined with densely packed, depressed warp weaving, ensures that this rug is exceptionally durable and long-lasting.

The Harshang tribal rug boasts a captivating design with a dark teal background and a rust-colored border. Its main color consists of a stunning teal hue, adding depth and vibrancy to any space. This rug is of new condition, ensuring that it arrives in pristine shape.

Measuring at 6 '2" x 8 '9 ", this rug is the perfect size to enhance the charm and elegance of your living area, bedroom, or office. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 104, we estimate that this rug has an impressive 802,070 individually hand-tied knots in total, a testament to the time and skill invested in its creation.

This rug also holds a rich history, as it is predominantly woven in the Karam Kul district of Andkhoi, where skilled weavers are well-known for their higher knot count weaving. Each yarn used is single ply and meticulously pern-knotted by hand, resulting in a truly authentic and intricate piece.

Embrace the timeless beauty and cultural heritage of this Harshang tribal rug, which features centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs. Add a touch of elegance and warmth to your space with this meticulously crafted work of art.
