Introducing our exquisite Afghan Harshang Tribal Rug that boasts an origin from Afghanistan. This stunning rug features a rich navy background adorned with a vibrant coral border, creating a captivating contrast. The design of this rug showcases the traditional tribal style, adding a unique charm to any space.

Crafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, most of whom belong to the Esari Subtribe, this rug is made from pure wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain in this region produces longer staple, oily wool, known for its superior quality in carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to Herat on the western side of Afghanistan, where it is meticulously hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, each knot is meticulously tied using an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. The durable construction of this rug features a cotton warp and weft, with a wool pile. The double wefted weaving technique, along with the depressed warp, results in the most resilient handwoven carpets available.

Adding to its allure, this rug exhibits centuries-old natural dyeing techniques. The captivating blue color is derived from natural indigo dye stuffs, specifically from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria). Natural indigo dyes have been used for thousands of years, yielding vibrant blue hues that have stood the test of time.

Measuring 5'11" x 8'10" and boasting a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug showcases the meticulous craftsmanship of its weavers. With a staggering count of 594,799 individually hand-tied knots, this rug is truly a labor of love.

Elevate your decor with this magnificent Afghan Harshang Tribal Rug, a testament to the skill and artistry of Afghan weavers. Experience the warmth and beauty of this exceptional rug while indulging in the rich history and craftsmanship it offers.
