Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, this captivating piece features a large Harshang design, showcasing its tribal style. Originating from the land of Afghanistan, specifically the vibrant and mountainous Ghazni Province, this rug is crafted by ethnic Turkmen weavers, most of whom hail from the Esari Subtribe.

True to its Afghan roots, this rug boasts a background of grass, offering a unique and natural touch. The light blue border beautifully frames the main attraction of this rug, which is the lush green hue that dominates its design. The rich green color is achieved through centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs, with the blue color stemming from the use of natural indigo dye.

Handcrafted with utmost care, this rug is woven using an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, adding to its authenticity. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province, where the mountainous terrain creates ideal conditions for high-quality wool. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand carted and hand spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving.

The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, often in the homes of the weavers themselves, embracing the cottage industry approach. The warp and weft of this rug are made of cotton, providing a sturdy foundation for the woolen pile. The double-wefted construction, along with the heavily packed and depressed warp weaving technique, ensures durability and longevity.

In terms of its specific dimensions, this rug measures 6'2" x 8'10", making it an ideal size for various spaces. With a knots per square inch count of 80, this rug showcases the level of craftsmanship invested in its creation. We further calculated that this rug comprises an impressive 619,931 individually hand-tied knots.

With its afghan origin, traditional tribal design, natural dye colors, and meticulously crafted construction, this rug is a testament to the rich tapestry of Afghan rug weaving heritage. Immerse yourself in the beauty and craftsmanship of this one-of-a-kind piece, offering both visual appeal and exceptional quality.
