Introducing our exquisite new Malayer tribal rug, originating from Afghanistan. This stunning piece showcases the traditional design and craftsmanship of the renowned Afghan weavers. The background of this rug features a beautiful beige hue, while the border is adorned with a vibrant orange accent. Made with meticulous attention to detail, this rug is crafted using the finest quality materials.

The Malayer design is known for its rich tribal heritage and intricate motifs. The pattern is carefully woven using the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, creating a visually captivating composition. The wool used for the pile is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its high-quality wool due to the mountainous terrain. These wool fibers are hand carted and spun into carpet yarn, ensuring the utmost quality and durability.

Artisans in Afghanistan weave these rugs on traditional floor looms in their own homes or small cottage industries. The cotton warp and weft provide a strong foundation, while the wool pile adds warmth and comfort. The double wefted construction and heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique make this rug exceptionally sturdy, ensuring it will withstand the test of time.

Keeping with tradition, this rug is colored using all-natural dye stuffs, resulting in a truly authentic and timeless piece. The rug measures 6'0" x 9'5", making it a versatile addition to any interior space.

With a remarkable 80 knots per square inch (KPSI), this rug showcases the meticulous skill and craftsmanship of the weavers. Based on the KPSI, we have calculated that this rug is comprised of a staggering 643,010 individually hand-tied knots in total.

Transform your living space with the timeless beauty of this Afghan Malayer tribal rug. It is a testament to the artistry and heritage of Afghan rug weaving, capturing the essence of tradition in every knot.
