This new Afghani rug features a traditional Moghul design, with a claret background and border. The main color of the rug is a vibrant red, adding a striking element to any room. Crafted with wool on cotton, this rug has a size of 11'9" X 18'8", making it ideal for larger spaces.

The rug is woven by skilled Ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe, using wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain in this region allows for the production of longer staple, high-quality wool. After being hand carted and spun into carpet yarn, the rug is woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' homes or cottage industries, adding a handcrafted touch to each piece.

Featuring an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft, this rug is double wefted with a heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique, ensuring durability and longevity. The centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs result in the rich and vibrant colors of the rug, with the red shade derived from natural madder root dyes. Madder root dyes, obtained from the Rubia tinctorum plant, have been used for centuries and produce a range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown tones.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, this rug boasts an impressive 5,094,212 individually hand-tied knots in total. It showcases the craftsmanship and attention to detail put into its creation.

The rug is mostly woven in the Karam Kul district of Andkhoi, known for its skilled weavers who produce higher knot count designs. The hand-spun single-ply pern knot yarn further enhances its quality.

This rug is perfect for those seeking a traditional, handwoven piece with a touch of elegance. Its timeless design and durable construction make it an excellent addition to any interior space. Its size allows it to make a statement in larger areas, while the rich red color adds warmth and character. Crafted with meticulous care and using natural dye materials, this rug embodies quality and authenticity.
