Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring the unique design of Sauj-bulak. This tribal-style rug showcases a stunning combination of colors, with a grape background and a teal border, all brought together with a vibrant purple main color. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this rug is sure to add a touch of elegance to any space.

Originating from Afghanistan, this rug is steeped in tradition and craftsmanship. It is handwoven by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for producing high-quality wool due to its mountainous terrain. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand carded and spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving.

Using an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, this rug is woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, following a cottage industry type production. The cotton warp and weft provide a solid foundation, while the all-wool pile ensures both comfort and durability. The double-wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique contributes to the longevity of this rug, making it one of the most durable handwoven carpets available.

What truly sets this rug apart is its centuries-old, all-natural dyeing process. The rich and vibrant colors are derived from natural dye stuffs, giving this rug a timeless appeal.

Measuring 9'0" x 12'1", this rug is the perfect size to anchor any room and create a focal point. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug boasts an impressive total of 1,237,644 individually hand-tied knots. Such intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail exemplify the artistry and skill of the weavers behind this masterpiece.

Whether you are a collector, interior designer, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty and history of handwoven rugs, this Afghani Sauj-bulak rug is a must-have addition to your space. Its cultural significance, combined with its exquisite design and craftsmanship, makes it a truly exceptional piece.
