Introducing our exquisite rug, originating from Afghanistan, with a captivating Serapi design and tribal style. The background boasts a charming medium blue hue, complemented by a driftwood border, adding a touch of rustic elegance. Crafted using superior materials, this new rug features a wool pile on a cotton foundation, ensuring both comfort and durability.

Measuring at 3'1" x 4'11", this rug showcases the artistry and expertise of ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the mountainous terrain of the Ghazni Province, known for their longer staple and higher quality wool ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to Herat, in the western side of Afghanistan, where it undergoes hand carting and hand spinning, resulting in carpet yarn ready for weaving.

Using traditional floor looms, skilled artisans weave this rug in their own homes as part of a cottage industry production. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and cotton warp and weft contribute to its authentic construction. The double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures the utmost durability, making this rug a long-lasting investment.

Undoubtedly, centuries of craftsmanship and artistry go into the creation of this rug, with all-natural dye stuffs being meticulously employed to achieve its captivating colors.

Interestingly, most rugs of this style are woven in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, and our rug stands out with its use of 2-ply yarn per knot. With a substantial 80 knots per square inch, this rug showcases the meticulous attention to detail and the immense effort that went into its creation. In fact, our careful calculation based on the knots per square inch determines that this rug consists of an astonishing 172,527 individually hand-tied knots, further exemplifying the superb craftsmanship encapsulated within this piece.

Prepare to be enraptured by the allure of this Afghani Serapi tribal rug, its rich history and cultural significance shines through in every fiber. Welcome this stunning masterpiece into your home and experience the beauty of a truly exceptional handwoven creation.
