Introducing an exquisite Afghani rug with a smirna design, this tribal-style masterpiece is a true gem for any rug enthusiast. With its slate background and a border featuring shades of green, this rug exudes elegance and sophistication.

Crafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is made from the finest wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily, and high-quality wool, which is ideal for carpet weaving.

To ensure the highest level of craftsmanship, the raw Ghazni wool is transported to the western side of Afghanistan, close to Herat. Here, the wool is carefully hand carted and hand-spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes or small cottage industries, adding a personal touch to each piece.

Using an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and high-quality wool pile on a cotton warp and weft, this rug boasts durability and resilience. The double wefting technique and heavily packed, depressed warp weaving contribute to its exceptional longevity.

Infused with a rich history, this rug features centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs, ensuring vibrant and timeless colors that will gracefully age over time. The soul of Afghan craftsmanship shines through in every detail of this extraordinary rug.

Mostly woven in Aqucha and Mazar Sharif, this rug utilizes 2-ply yarn per knot, further enhancing its durability and texture. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, we estimated that this rug showcases an impressive 557,182 individually hand-tied knots in total, testifying to the meticulous attention to detail invested in its creation.

Measuring 4'2" x 11'9", this stunning rug will add sophistication and character to any space it graces. Don't miss the opportunity to own a true work of art that combines tradition, beauty, and exceptional craftsmanship.
