Originating from India, this rug is designed in the Tabriz style, falling under the transitional category that blends traditional patterns with contemporary color palettes. The primary background is a medium blue, complemented by a jade border. This piece is handwoven using wool on a cotton foundation. The rug's production involves a unique finishing process carried out in Jaipur, known for employing chromium dyes to ensure color accuracy, light fastness, and consistency, especially after undergoing an antiquing process.

The rug's weaving process spans across different villages around Jaipur, extending even to places like Bikaner. Weavers often work in their own homes using asymmetrical Persian-type knots, a technique with deep roots in Rajasthan's weaving tradition. The wool utilized is a blend of high-quality Ghazni wool from Afghanistan and South African wool. The foundation is double wefted with a dense lower weft and a finer, looser upper weft, providing texture and visual effects that mimic worn antique rugs. This is further enhanced by the shearing process, which reveals speckles of the white weft, contributing to the rug's lighter and more textured appearance.

The designs are primarily inspired by antique Persian and Khotanese carpets, merging traditional motifs with modern color schemes. This particular rug boasts an intricate and repetitive pattern of stylized floral and geometric designs, extending uniformly across its surface without a distinct central medallion. The color scheme features a subtle mix of light blue and pale beige or off-white, lending the rug a somewhat muted and vintage look. The border, slightly more pronounced than the inner pattern, features similar motifs that harmoniously blend with the overall design. The rug exhibits strong symmetry along both horizontal and vertical axes, with tightly packed motifs providing a rich and detailed visual texture.

This rug has a knots-per-square-inch (KPSI) of 104. With a total count based on the KPSI, this particular piece includes an impressive 3,210,741 individually hand-tied knots.
