Introducing our exquisite Afghan rug, featuring an Arabesque design, this transitional-style rug is a true masterpiece. The rug originates from Afghanistan, specifically from the Ghazni Province in the southeastern part of the country, known for its mountainous terrain that yields superior quality, longer staple wool. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to Herat, where skilled weavers hand-card and spin it into carpet yarn.

Crafted by ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe, this rug showcases their exceptional artistry and craftsmanship. The rug is woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, emphasizing the cottage industry type of production. The weaving technique used is asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, resulting in a beautifully textured and durable rug.

Measuring 2 '9 " x 9 '10", this rug boasts a captivating design with a denim background and a vibrant red border, creating a striking contrast. The main color of the rug is a captivating blue, achieved through the use of natural indigo dye obtained from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo is a time-honored dye that has been utilized for centuries to produce vibrant blue hues.

To further enhance its visual allure, the rug incorporates the natural red color derived from madder root dyes. These dyes are obtained from the roots of the madder plant, known scientifically as Rubia tinctorum. Madder root dyes offer a diverse range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades, adding depth and richness to the rug's design.

The quality of our rug is exceptional, with a knot count of 104 per square inch, indicating the meticulous craftsmanship that went into its creation. Through careful calculation, we estimate that this rug comprises a total of 401,960 individually hand-tied knots.

Immerse yourself in the artistry of this Afghan rug, where tradition meets contemporary design. Add a touch of elegance and history to your space with this captivating piece.
