Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, with a stunning design known as Bakshaish Willow. This tribal-style rug showcases a celadon background and a rust border, creating a beautiful contrast. The main color of this rug is a vibrant green, adding a refreshing touch to any space.

Crafted with care, this rug features a combination of wool and cotton, with a wool pile on a cotton warp and weft. It measures 5'1" in width and 6'11" in length, making it a versatile piece for various room sizes.

Now, let's delve into the origins and craftsmanship of this remarkable rug. Hailing from Afghanistan, this rug is woven by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, mostly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province, known for its mountainous terrain that naturally produces longer staple oily wool, perfect for carpet weaving.

The journey of this rug begins with the raw Ghazni wool being transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat. Here, the wool is carefully hand-carded and spun into carpet yarn, a labor-intensive process that ensures the highest quality.

The weaving of this rug takes place on traditional floor looms, in the weavers' own homes, creating a cottage industry type of production. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique is utilized, resulting in a durable and long-lasting rug.

To add to its allure, this rug is dyed using all-natural dye stuffs, following centuries-old techniques. This ensures that each color in the design has a unique depth and richness, enhancing the overall beauty of the rug.

We take pride in the craftsmanship of our rugs, and this particular piece showcases a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80. This means that there are a total of 400,140 individually hand-tied knots, a testament to the intricate work that goes into creating this masterpiece.

Add a touch of Afghan elegance to your home with this exceptional Bakshaish Willow rug. Its tribal charm, combined with the skilled craftsmanship and high-quality materials, make it a prized addition to any rug collection.
