Introducing our exquisite Afghan rug, featuring the captivating design of cypress, reflecting the tribal style. This rug originates from the skilled Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe, who hail from the mountainous terrain of the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan. The top-quality wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in this region, known for their longer staple and superior quality.

The rug's creation process begins with the gathering of raw Ghazni wool, which is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes meticulous hand carding and spinning to produce carpet yarn of the highest caliber. These yarns are then woven on traditional floor looms, within the comfort of the weavers' own homes, resulting in a cottage industry type production.

Using the asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique, the skilled weavers employ a cotton warp and weft, ensuring a sturdy foundation. The double-wefted construction and heavily packed, depressed warp weaving contribute to the exceptional durability of this handwoven piece. Adding to its authenticity, all-natural dye stuffs, centuries old, are used to imbue vibrant and lasting colors into the rug.

With a background of denim and a soft pink border, this rug's main color is a soothing and timeless blue, achieved through the use of natural indigo dye stuffs. Indigo, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria), boasts a rich history spanning thousands of years, enjoyed by various cultures worldwide for its ability to produce captivating blue hues.

Measuring 9'1" x 11'10", this rug showcases a remarkable craftsmanship, boasting 80 knots per square inch. With a calculation based on its KPSI, we proudly declare that this stunning rug boasts an impressive total of 1,223,255 individually hand-tied knots.

Immerse yourself in the rich heritage and artistry embodied by this Afghan rug, a true testament to the skill and dedication of its weavers.
