This traditional Farahan Sarouk rug from Afghanistan is a stunning addition to any space. With a background color of sky blue and a red border, the rug features a main color of blue that adds a touch of elegance to its design. Made from wool on cotton, this new rug boasts superior quality and durability.

The rug is crafted by ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. This area's mountainous terrain provides the perfect conditions for growing longer staple oily wool, which is ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then taken to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand-carted and hand-spun into carpet yarn.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug showcases the expertise and skill of these artisans. The weaving technique used is an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, which adds to the rug's intricate design. The warp and weft are made of cotton, while the pile is made of all wool, resulting in a double-wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving that ensures the rug's durability.

The colors of this rug are derived from all-natural dye stuffs. The blue hue comes from natural indigo dye, which has been used for thousands of years to produce vibrant shades of blue. The red color is derived from natural madder root dyes, which have a long history of use as a dyeing agent.

Measuring 10'0" x 13'10" and with a knots per square inch count of 162, this rug is a true work of art. In fact, we have calculated that there are approximately 3,212,901 individually hand-tied knots in this rug.

Whether you're looking to enhance your living room, dining room, or any other space, this Farahan Sarouk rug is a perfect choice. Its traditional design, combined with its high-quality craftsmanship and natural dyes, makes it a timeless and exquisite piece. Add elegance and sophistication to your home with this beautiful Afghan rug.
