Introducing our exquisite Afghani Harshang tribal rug, a true masterpiece of craftsmanship. This stunning rug, originating from Afghanistan, showcases the refined skills of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The raw wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrains, resulting in longer staple oily higher quality wool ideal for carpet weaving.

Carefully processed, the Ghazni wool is transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous hand carting and spinning process to transform it into carpet yarn. The weaving itself takes place in the weavers' own homes, following the cottage industry concept, using traditional floor looms. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique, coupled with cotton warp and weft, creates a soft, inviting pile.

What makes this rug truly exceptional is its durability. The double-warp technique, with heavily packed and depressed warps, ensures a resilient structure, resulting in one of the most robust handwoven carpets in existence. The use of centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs adds a touch of authenticity and timelessness to this piece.

Notably, this rug was predominantly woven in the Karam Kul district of Andkhoi, where skilled weavers are renowned for higher knot counts. The yarn used for this rug is hand-spun, with a single-ply pern knot, further showcasing the commitment to traditional craftsmanship.

This rug boasts a remarkable knot count of 104 knots per square inch, which translates to a remarkable total of 327,020 individually hand-tied knots. This level of intricacy and dedication to detail is evident in the exquisite design and impeccable craftsmanship of this rug.

Immerse yourself in the rich history and beauty of this Afghani Harshang tribal rug. Its captivating design, featuring a camel background and terracotta border, combined with the main color of beige, exudes a sense of warmth and authenticity. Measuring at 2'9" x 8'0", this rug is the perfect addition to elevate any living space.

Experience the luxury and timeless elegance of this new wool-on-cotton rug, meticulously crafted with the utmost care and dedication by skilled artisans. Delve into the cultural heritage of Afghanistan with this Afghani Harshang tribal rug, a true treasure for any discerning collector or interior enthusiast.
