Introducing our exquisite rug, an authentic Afghani piece boasting the captivating design of the Harshang style. With a tribal essence, this rug showcases a background in a delightful taupe hue, complemented by a mesmeric blue border. The main color of the rug is a charming beige, creating a harmonious and captivating aesthetic.

Crafted with care, this rug is woven by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this masterpiece originates from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The region's mountainous terrain naturally offers longer staple oily wool, known for its higher quality in carpet weaving. This raw Ghazni wool undergoes a meticulous process, being hand carted and hand spun into carpet yarn around Herat on the western side of Afghanistan.

Utilizing traditional floor looms in their own homes, these skilled weavers employ an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type to create the rug. The warp and weft are made of cotton, while the pile consists of wool, resulting in a splendid combination of texture and durability. Through double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving techniques, this rug epitomizes exceptional durability and longevity.

The rich colors adorning this rug stem from centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs, with the captivating blue color achieved through the use of natural indigo dye. Derived from the leaves of the indigo plant, natural indigo dye, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, boasts a history that spans thousands of years. This ancient dye has been celebrated and widely used across various cultures to create vibrant blue hues.

With a remarkable knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, our meticulous calculations estimate that this rug possesses an impressive total of 177,193 individually hand-tied knots. This intricate craftsmanship showcases the dedication and skill of the weavers who brought this rug to life.

True to its Afghani heritage, this rug showcases the artistry and cultural significance of the region. Carefully crafted with pride and expertise, it will undoubtedly bring warmth, beauty, and a touch of history to any space fortunate enough to host it.
