Introducing our exquisite Afghani Heriz rug, a true testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers. This tribal-style rug originates from Afghanistan, specifically the Esari Subtribe, where the weavers have mastered the art of creating stunning masterpieces.

The background of this rug features a captivating rust hue, beautifully complemented by a deep navy border. The main color that takes center stage is a vibrant red, adding warmth and character to any space. The design is woven with the utmost attention to detail, showcasing the intricate patterns and motifs that are typical of the Heriz style.

Crafted using a combination of wool and cotton, this rug is both luxurious and durable. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, known for producing long staple, high-quality wool suited for carpet weaving. It is then hand carted and spun in the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, to create the carpet yarn.

The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes, embracing a cottage industry production. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type is employed, further adding to the authenticity and uniqueness of this rug. With a cotton warp and weft and an all-wool pile, this rug boasts double wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving. This technique ensures exceptional durability, making it a long-lasting investment for any interior.

One of the distinctive features of this rug is the centuries-old use of all-natural dye stuffs. The captivating red color in this particular rug comes from natural madder root dyes. Madder root, scientifically known as Rubia tinctorum, has a rich history as a dyeing agent and has been cultivated for centuries. It offers a range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades, adding depth and richness to the design.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug showcases the weaver's precision and dedication to creating a masterpiece. Based on the KPSI, we calculated that this rug has an impressive total of 1,260,568 individually hand-tied knots—an extraordinary demonstration of craftsmanship.

Add a touch of Afghan heritage and beauty to your home with this Afghani Heriz rug. Designed to captivate and endure, it will undoubtedly become a cherished part of any collection or decor scheme.
