Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, this stunning piece showcases the timeless beauty of the Khotan Garden design. With its traditional style, this rug is sure to bring a touch of elegance to any space.

The background of the rug is a warm camel color, perfectly complemented by a rust-colored border. The main color is a soothing beige, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere. The size of this rug is 2'4" x 7'10", making it a versatile and functional addition to any room.

Crafted with care, this rug features a new condition with wool on cotton content. The weavers responsible for this masterpiece are ethnic Turkmen, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that produces longer staple oily higher quality wool for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically around Herat, where it undergoes hand carting and spinning into carpet yarn. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, representing a cottage industry-style production.

Utilizing an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft (with an all-wool pile), this rug is not only visually striking but also exceptionally durable. The double-wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures its long-lasting quality.

To add to its allure, this rug is dyed with centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs, showcasing the organic beauty of its colors. With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 104, we have carefully calculated that this rug boasts an impressive total of 271,685 individually hand-tied knots.

In conclusion, our Afghan rug with the Khotan Garden design is a testament to the rich craftsmanship and artistic heritage of the region. With its traditional style, impeccable quality, and meticulous attention to detail, this rug is a true treasure to behold.
