The wool used in its construction is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain contributes to the production of longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it undergoes hand carding and hand spinning into carpet yarn. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, reflecting the cottage industry type of production.

The rug employs an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and utilizes cotton warp and weft, with a luxurious all-wool pile. It is double wefted with heavily packed depressed warp weaving, ensuring superior durability and longevity.
