Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, this contemporary piece boasts a plain field design, with a stunning grey background and an elegant ivory border. Crafted by ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is a testament to their exceptional craftsmanship.

The wool used in this rug comes from sheep raised in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain produces longer staple, oily wool of superior quality for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically around Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and hand spinning, transforming it into carpet yarn.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug showcases the ingenuity of cottage industry production. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique is employed, ensuring a durable construction. With a cotton warp and weft, and a wool pile, this rug strikes the perfect balance between comfort and longevity.

Centuries-old natural dye stuffs are used to achieve the rich and authentic colors found in this rug. Every detail is carefully considered, resulting in a timeless piece that embodies the artistry of Afghan rug weaving.

Mostly woven in the Karam Kul district of Andkhoi, this rug benefits from the expertise of highly skilled weavers renowned for their prowess in achieving higher knot counts. The yarn used is hand spun and consists of single ply pern knots.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, our accurate calculations reveal that this rug comprises an astounding 1,859,355 individually hand-tied knots. This meticulous attention to detail ensures not only an exquisite design but also a durable and long-lasting investment.

Embrace the allure of Afghan craftsmanship with this exceptional rug, meticulously woven with time-honored techniques and infused with the rich heritage of its origin.
