Boston, MA (April 17, 2015)–New England Home is pleased to announce the 2015 winners of the sixth annual "5 Under 40" Awards.
The "5 Under 40" Awards program recognizes the hottest emerging talent in residential design in New England, in the areas of architecture, interiors, specialty design (including furniture, textiles, lighting, accessories, and other home products), and landscape design.

As Kyle Hoepner, editor-in-chief of New England Home, notes, "This year's group is another wonderful example of just how much design talent we have in the New England region. Recognizing these young professionals and introducing their gifts and achievements to our readers is a critical part of our mission to promote great home design. We expect to see more and more great things from these five individuals over the coming years."
The slate of winners for 2015 was selected by a committee of professionals representing diverse facets of the New England design community, including Joe Kennard of Joseph Kennard Architects (Boston, Mass.); Liz Caan of Liz Caan Interiors (Newton, Mass.); Greg Bilowz of Bilowz Associates (Sterling, Mass.); Natalie van Dijk Carpenter of Lekker (Boston, Mass.); and Kyle Hoepner, editor-in-chief of New England Home magazine.
The winners will be recognized at a celebratory awards party on Thursday, September 10, 2015, in Boston.
Kathy Bush-Dutton, publisher of New England Home, observes, "We are so excited to have five individuals who have produced such inspiring and innovative work! One really interesting fact about this group is that three of them work for a firm where the principal is a member of the New England Design Hall of Fame. This group represents a sort of legacy in the New England design community that will be very interesting to watch in the coming years."
Each winner will design a custom rug to be hand-woven in the Nepal-based workshops of presenting sponsor Landry & Arcari Rugs and Carpeting, creating a direct connection between designer and weaver. The completed rugs will be auctioned off at the September 10 celebration honoring the winners, with proceeds to benefit the Cambridge-based charity, Barakat. Barakat works in South and Central Asia to strengthen the fundamental human right to education -- particularly for women and children—by providing exemplary basic education, increasing access to higher education, and advancing literacy.
